I was smart

Even on the honor role every year

Near the top of my class

But not smart in life

 

I had means

Money was not a big issue for me

I bought what I wanted

Drugs and booze

My means were wasted

 

I was stuck

In a world I disdained

Too stubborn to leave

Too tied up with my friends

I was stuck

 

I escaped

Threw off my stubbornness

Repented of my sin

Asked Jesus in my heart

And life began again
