Make Time

I wish that I could find more time to thank you
For all the gracious things you’ve done for me
I couldn’t live another day without you
For your Spirit is the air that I must breathe

I wish that I would take more time to pray to you
For you have answered prayers throughout my life
I’ll lay all of my burdens at your feet, Lord
For I know you that will answer in your time

I wish that I would take more time to listen
For your sweet voice to guide me through the day
I often feel your Spirit gently leading
For He alone knows how to show the way

I wish that I would take more time to be still
For that is when I’ll sense that you are near
I get so busy I can’t seem to find you
When all the time you have been right hear

I wish that I would take more time to praise you
For you are worthy of each word I speak
I moan and groan too often through my failures
When it is you that I should long to seek

I wish that I would take more time to read, Lord
The wonders you have stored up in your Word
I know that life would be so much more peaceful
If I would only trust my heart to yours

All of us find time for the things that are important to us. We tell people we are too busy quite often, but that is only because the thing they are asking is not a priority for us. If what they were asking us to do was something we really wanted to do, we would make the time. Make time? Find time? Wait a minute. I thought time was pretty much set in stone. 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. It does not change. It never changes. No matter what we do, we cannot change those facts. We cannot lengthen or shorten a second. We cannot make an hour disappear. So how in heaven’s name can we make time or find time? In reality we can’t. But what we can do is rearrange the things we are doing so that a slot of time is opened up to fit another activity in there.

I don’t know about you, bit I need to make more time for God. More time to do all the things listed in this little poem. More time out of my busy day, a day too busy with the things of this world and the cares of this life, and not busy enough to be about my Father’s business. I need to reevaluate my priorities and see if they line up with His. I need to look at the unproductive time in my day and make it productive for Him. It can be done, and it will be done. I do have the time to do that much!

Ephesians 5:14-16 King James Version
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Take Time

There is no secret
There’s no big test
The answer is easy to find
If I want to walk
Closer to God
I just have to find the time

I get so busy
My days are all full
I want to spend more time with Him
I juts need to sit down
And quiet myself
Then I’ll hear His voice deep within

He is just waiting
He is just watching
He wants to spend time with me
He is just wond’ring
When I will take time
To sit and learn at His feet

I say I will do it
I say I’ll sit down
But it seems something always comes up
If he can make time
Stand still for others
Why don’t I give Him enough

Dear Lord help me calm down
Help me settle myself
So I can spend more time with you
Then I will find
That the time is well spent
When I give all my time to you

Not A Moment Will Pass

When I look each day at my schedule
And I see all that I have to do
I search through my mind
To see if there’s time
To spend in worshiping you

I say to myself this is crazy
How can this day succeed
If I don’t take rest
And give you my best
Time with you is all that I need

I bow my head as I ponder
When I can find a break
Then I realize
As I open my eyes
That you I will not neglect

I will praise you when I make breakfast
I will praise you driving my car
Not a moment will pass
That my praise will lapse
Because I know just who you are

You are my strength and my power
You are my sword and my shield
You offer grace
My sins you erase
You lead me to life-giving fields

You are my fortress and refuge
You are my joy and my peace
There’s nothing I have
That will ever surpass
The love that you have for me

By the end of the day I look back
I see that my words sang your praise
My soul is relieved
That you have received
The worship that my heart did raise
