You Are My Keeper

As a wandering soul
In the desert of life
I try to find my way
And I travel through
This sin filled world
Tempted day by day
I can read a book
Or watch a show
They seem to satisfy
But the promises
Soon turn into lies

Then I realize
That you have been there
Waiting all the time
Your still, small voice
Was calling me
But I just walked on by
In the quiet of
My darkest hour
Your voice has broken through
And I realize
That all I need is you.

You are my keeper.
You keep me safe from all harm
You are my shelter
In the storm.
You are my refuge
When I don’t know where to run
You are my strength
When my strength is gone

Now I boldly walk the road
Where I used to turn and run
Your mercy has restored my faith
New life has begun
I train myself to listen
To your whisper in my ear
Until the day you suddenly appear

On that day
I will rise to meet you
Caught up in the sky
Kept by your
Holy Spirit
All throughout my life

You are my keeper.
You keep me safe from all harm
You are my shelter
In the storm.
You are my refuge
When I don’t know where to run
You are my strength
When my strength is gone
