We used to have

Neighborhood parties

Backyard get gatherings

Social events

One-on-one chats

 

Now we have

Facebook

Twitter

Instagram

Snapchat

 

It’s not the same

And I fear

It won’t go back

 

We are

Dis-connected

In our own worlds

Alone

Trying to be together

But apart.

 

We blog

We email

We post

We tweet

 

Hoping to get

Connected

While we are still

Apart.

 

I need to connect

Eye-to-eye

Face-to-face

Voice-to-voice

 

In the same room

At the same time

With the same goal

To be connected
