Mercy Washed Over Me

It’s mercy that called me
Mercy that saved me
Mercy that changed my life
Once I was lost
Now I am found
Mercy washed over me

Dirty and tired from the trials of life
My path seemed always uphill
Never a momemt of peace or  joy
Only some temporal thrills
Often I found myself wandering
Sometimes I thought I was drowning
Life was a game
Of troubles and pain
I was stuck without a way out

Determined to better my future
I looked for a way more secure
Thoroughly drained from my prevoius ways
I was anything but pure
I’d given up hope of resolving
The whirlpool where I was revolving
Bent out of shape
Hope had escaped
How could I get turned about

Then His love came in
Washed away my sin
Gave me peace I never had known
Oh the depth of love
That came down from above
His grace has made me whole

It’s mercy that called me
Mercy that saved me
Mercy that changed my life
Once I was lost
Now I am found
Mercy washed over me

Repurposed

Long ago I had been trained by this world
My life was all out of sorts
I’d drifted and wandered so far off course
I’d fallen to my last resort

Back to the safety of God’s loving arms
Back to the peace He bestows
Back to the joy only He can give me
Back to a life filled with hope

He sought me out when I was so lost
He kept a vigil for me
When I finally stopped and turned around
His precious smile I did see

Now it is Jesus who fashions my life
He has repurposed me
I am His workmanship so all can see
His wonderful love for me

In Your Embrace

My life is like a winding trail
That wanders to and fro
Sometimes I am so close to God
And other times I fall
I want my walk much deeper
So He will be my all
Draw me to your side, Oh God

Close to you by your side
In your love I will abide
Holding fast to your sweet grace
Staying close in your embrace

Guide my path keep me near
Your calm voice I long to hear
Gentle Lamb and Kind of Kings
Christ alone my everything

I don’t want to wander
Through this life anymore
I want to follow closely
To the path set by my Lord
Help me God to hear you
And to follow where you lead
That I may always be where I belong

Close to you by your side
In your love I will abide
Holding fast to your sweet grace
Staying close in your embrace

Guide my path keep me near
Your calm voice I long to hear
Gentle Lamb and Kind of Kings
Christ alone my everything

Turn Your Heart Strings

For so many years I heard about Christ
And all he had done for me
Raised in the church every Sunday
Yet I slipped away late in my teens

For many years I wandered aimless
In denial of all I had learned
Until a good friend turned my heart strings
I accepted the Savior I’d spurned

Maybe today you deny Him
And all He has done by His grace
Accept Him today as your Savior
And one day you’ll see His face
