He Called Me

He called me out of darkness
He called me into light
He called me out of sickness
He called me into life
He called me out of sorrow
He called me into joy
He called me out of worry
I trust Him evermore

He called me out of doubting
He called me into faith
He called me out of hurting
He called me into grace
He called me out of bondage
He called me to be free
He called me out of judgment
His mercy covers me

Oh what love He has for me
This love that pardoned me
This love that gave His life at Calvary
Oh what love he does provide
This love that’s so divine
This love He gave to me to give away

He called me out of this world
He called me to His side
He called me out of selfishness
Asks me to sacrifice
He called me from myself
To give my life away
He called me to be His
And love others every day

Oh what love He has for me
This love that pardoned me
This love that gave His life at Calvary
Oh what love he does provide
This love that’s so divine
This love He gave to me to give away

Ungoverned

I once discovered
That I’d been ungoverned
My life had been such a disgrace
Now I have an inkling
You know what I’m thinking
When I tell you that I’ve found my way

My best friend had gumtion
He made introduction
For me to find Jesus my Lord
Now I’m singing praise
To that glorious name
My life is now safe evermore

In response to the daily prompt Inkling

Chosen Star

I look up at the stars
And I see the Master’s plan
He placed them one by one
Before our time began

All down through the ages
Those stars have shown their light
Always in formation
To guide us in the night

Then one night, a change was seen
One star was singled out
To shine much brighter than the rest
A loud celestial shout

On brightest star, Oh chosen star
You shine your glorious light
To lead us all to Christ the King
On this most Holy night

This star then found its special place
To shine those brighter rays
It took its place above a town
Where God’s own Son was laid

Three kings had seen the star so bright
From lands so far away
They came to bring gifts to the child
In a manger filled with hay

Gold, because He’s royalty
As priest, the Frankincense
Myrrh, anointing for His death
Which would be so intense

On brightest star, Oh chosen star
You shine your glorious light
To lead us all to Christ the King
On this most Holy night

My Desire

This poem was written with inspiration from Scott’s blog this morning.  You can read it at  THIS ADDRESS

I used to desire riches
I thought they would satisfy
And though I gathered up many
My heart had a lonely cry

I used to desire pleasures
That took all my riches away
They made me feel good for a moment
Then pay for them dearly next day

I used to desire real power
So I could feel big and alive
But pride was what then resulted
I fell flat on my face and I cried

Then I learned of someone named Jesus
Who would fill the desires of my heart
I did not believe it was possible
But I needed a brand new start

I knelt down one day at the altar
I slowly looked up to the sky
Then I cried out to Him
Asking Him to come in
That day my life changed on the fly

My desire is now for just Jesus
He is all that I want or need
He fills me with love
His joy fills my cup
And to top it all off I have peace

If your soul is longing for more
And you never are satisfied
Just cry out to Him
Asking Him to come in
And you’ll suddenly feel alive
